floppy disk pencil holder

floppy disk pen holder Are your drawers cluttered up with old floppy disks ? Here is a fun recycling idea: a sturdy, square pen and pencil holder, which you can also use as a flower-pot holder or a high-tech box.

pencil holder assembly If it hasn't been done already, push open the write-protect tab. That's how we protected data in the pre-CD age.

Using a hand gimlet or a small drill bit, make holes through the two round marks found near each side of the diskette. Turn the gimlet gently.

The diskettes are assembled using cable ties. Before you start, make sure all the diskettes are facing the same way. In this example, the side where the label was is facing inside the pencil holder.

Assemble starting from the bottom. Tighten the ties definitively only at the end. Cut the extra lengths of the plastic ties with a wire cutter.

If you have a lot of floppy disks, you can also make a shoulder bag. Super Geek :-)
