fresh produce tray

fresh produce tray This useful tray is easy to make from a fresh produce crate. With its offbeat fruit and vegetable design, it perfectly sets the tone for breakfast or an outdoor snack, and is completely customizable.
From a large wooden crate, remove the small sides on each end with the triangular corner pieces attached. Place them flat down opposite each other (see sketch below). The remaining parts will be used to line the tray bottom. Saw in the right places to showcase the prettiest lettering and painted fruit. You can use more than one crate to make a tray with a theme, such as an all-fruit, all-vegetable or seasonal theme.

crate tray focus Apply wood glue over the tray bottom using a paintbrush. Cover with the decorative pieces of crate you have prepared, adjusting as needed. Add weight and let dry. Sand with fine sandpaper. Fill the joints with wood filler or wood putty for a clean finished look. Paint or varnish to make it water-resistant. crate tray instructions
