eco-friendly modeling clay

ecological modeling clay

Modeling clay not just a fun pastime - it is also a way for children to work with space, shapes and colors. This is an easy recipe for clay that kids can help to make. They can even make clay in their favorite colors.

modeling clay recipe In a mixing bowl, dissolve 1/2 cup salt and 1 tablespoon of alum powder* in 1/2 cup of boiling water. Add 1 tablespoon of colza or sunflower oil. To color the clay, add about ten drops of food coloring, which you can even mix to create a wide range of colors: orange, brown, green, and so on.

Pour in 1 cup of flour and beat briskly with a whisk. Then, gradually add about another 2/3 cup of flour. The "dough" should be firm, slightly oily, and non sticky. Knead the dough on a wooden board for about five minutes.

Repeat the same steps to make dough of different colors. Store your balls of modeling clay in an airtight container. Like with all modeling clay, you can easily blend the different colors together.
